MEET THE TEAM

Robert S. Bray, Jr. MD
CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
As the first California neurosurgeon to devote his practice to minimally invasive spine surgery, Dr. Bray has performed more than 13,000 successful surgeries, with a 99% focus on outpatient procedures. Dr. Bray founded DISC Sports & Spine Center (DISC) in 2006 after a successful tenure at Cedar Sinai, where he had founded The Institute for Spinal Disorders and built it into one of the country’s largest spine programs. During 20 years of combined active and reserve duty with the United States Air Force, he received multiple medals and commendations for his work developing medical protocols and teaching wartime trauma techniques. Dr. Bray served as a Major while stationed as Chief of Neurosurgery at the David Grant Medical Center.
He has over 20 patents on a wide variety of spinal implants and surgical instruments and regularly consults the world’s leading medical manufacturers. His commitment to education and research is exhibited by his roster of more than 25 trained Fellows, his lectures around the globe, and his many published, peer-viewed articles. Dr. Bray has been a team physician and spine consultant for Red Bull North America, Oracle Team USA, USA SailGP, United States Olympic Committee, and the Los Angeles Kings.
K Elizabeth Hawk, MS MD PhD
PRESIDENT
Dr. Hawk is a Nuclear Medicine Physician and Neuroradiologist. Her integrated MD/PhD training built a foundation to explore translational discoveries, understand the research process, and teach new emerging concepts. Following an undergraduate degree in Molecular Cell Biology at UC Berkley, Dr. Hawk completed a masters in medical radiation physics and a PhD in Neuroscience at The Chicago Medical School (RFUMS). She then completed her medical doctorate, residency and dual fellowship requirements at the University of Southern California (USC), and is now dual board certified in Nuclear and Molecular Medicine as well as Radiology. Currently, Dr. Hawk is faculty for Stanford Hospital, Nuclear Medicine Division, and also holds a leadership position in Radiology Partners, the largest physician owned radiology private practice in the US.
She holds several national leadership positions in organized medicine, and is internationally recognized as a thought leader in artificial intelligence applications in medicine. She is a proud member of the RadXX board, promoting diversity in medical informatics, and is faculty for the ACR Radiology Leadership Institute.
